My Professional Side
I am a Web Developer/Designer & Graphic Artist living in Westminster Maryland. Although I spend most of my time in the world of web development, I also love logo/branding design and illustration. My passion for design started at an early age, and I have continued to be inspired through everything I see. I spent my undergraduate years rounding out my abilities as an artist, and graduated from Salisbury University in the Fall of 2009 with my B.F.A. in Graphic Design.
I started my Masters degree in Web Development, but decided to put in on hold to take a position as Web Developer/Designer at D3Corp in Ocean City, Maryland. It was a tough decision to choose work over education, but I do not question my decision at all. I can push myself as hard as any professor could, and being in the creative field I feel it is important to find your own way in a sense. I am currently the lead designer on a DoD contract, designing and building webpages for various clients within the government space as well as working to bring the the Defense Departments website into the modern age. I continue to do custom WordPress development in my “free” time, while constantly teaching myself and pushing myself for advancement. It is fun working in an environment that is forever evolving.
I would classify myself as a perfectionist, but I try to not let it confine my creativeness. I am constantly pushing myself to the limit, and challenging myself in each and every project I create. I hope to eventually become a college professor so that I may guide students in the creative arts the same way that my professors pushed me to expand the way I view ART.
I believe that everyone is an artist, you just have to be open enough to embrace it, brave enough to express it, and dedicated enough to push your limits.
My Personal Side
As much as I love development and design, I love my wonderful wife even more. She is very supportive (to say the least) of the hard work and countless hours I dedicate to my work, and I can not thank her enough for it. I am lucky enough to be able to do something that I am so passionate about for a living, and even more lucky to have someone supporting me when I get home.
Sports has been a great outlet growing up. I played baseball and basketball growing up, however my true passion for sport came in 2005 when I was introduced to Ultimate Frisbee. I continue playing to this day year round and it is a great way to network and stay in shape. It is a sport that is growing quickly, and it is incredibly addicting. I even had the privilege to play the sport at the pro level for the D.C. Current in 2016.
I am also a Volkswagen enthusiast. I have three Volkswagens, a MK1 Rabbit (Caddy) Pickup, a MK1 Etienne Aigner Cabriolet, and a MK6 Jetta 2.5SE. When I need a break from behind a computer, and my girlfriend is either working or busy, it is nice to be able to get my hands dirty on them. I view my cars as almost an extension of me, and the community is a great place to network and meet awesome new people. The creative and Volkswagen communities share many similarities.
Although my family lives states away now, I still love them everyday. I am fortunate to be the oldest brother of 3 awesome sisters, and to have two parents that have sacrificed so much for their children. I know that a few sentences can not do it justice, but I hope they know how truly grateful I am for everything they have done for me.
I am living this crazy journey called “life”, and I can not wait to see what lies ahead.
